Thierry Henry counted on several Ligue 1 players, such as Olympique Lyonnais' Alexandre Lacazette, Stade Rennais' Adrien Truffert, Montpellier's Joris Chotard, and Toulouse's Guillaume Restes to be in his starting 11.
France and the United States played a scoreless first half with Les Bleus taking seven shots and the Americans managing three. The host nation, though, would find its scoring boots in the final 45 minutes, with the OL veteran leading the way.
Lacazette opened the scoring in the 61st minute off an assist from Bayern Munich's Michael Olise, allowing France to take a 1-0 lead over the United States. The Lyon star would then provide the assist on the Olise goal in the 69th minute, giving Henry and his team a 2-0 advantage.
Sevilla's Loïc Badé added France's third goal in the 85th minute, off an assist from Chotard, as Les Bleus took a 3-0 lead over the Americans. The United States attempted to find the back of the net during the contest, registering six shots in total in the second half.
Marko Mitrović and his team couldn't find the back of the net during the 90 minutes and one of the reasons was Restes' performance between the pipes. The 19-year-old made three saves to deny the United States of scoring a goal and keeping a clean sheet.
France's next match in Group A will be against Guinea on the 27th while the Americans will face New Zealand on the same day.
