Which Ligue 1 players are playing in the Olympics?

With the men’s football tournament at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris kicking off on Wednesday, several well-known Ligue 1 players, including Alexandre Lacazette and Achraf Hakimi, are set to participate.

 

In total, 29 players from France's top-flight clubs will be present. Thierry Henry’s French team has the largest contingent, with ten players; Guinea follows with seven and Morocco have six.

 

Thirteen of the 18 Ligue 1 clubs have representatives, including five from RennesLyonAS MonacoLe Havre AC, and Stade de Reims each have three players.

 

Here’s the complete list of players vying for a medal this summer:

 

Spain:

 

Arnau Tenas (Pairs Saint-Germain): The 23-year-old made six appearances for PSG last season in all competitions, including a seven-save performance against Le Havre.

 

France:

 

Maghnes Akliouche (AS Monaco): Akliouche made 38 appearances across all competitions this past season for Monaco. The 22-year-old scored eight goals and four assists.

 

 

Rayan Cherki (Lyon): The 20-year-old made 39 total appearances for Les Gones during the 2023-24 season, scoring three goals and registering nine assists.

 

Joris Chotard (Montpellier): Chotard appeared in 32 matches across all competitions for Montpellier last season. The 22-year-old registered three assists for La Paillade.

 

Désiré Doué (Rennes): The 19-year-old played in 43 matches last season for Rennes, scoring four goals and tallying six assists.

 

Arnaud Kalimuendo (Rennes): Kalimuendo provided the scoring for Rennes last season, registering 15 goals and five assists in 41 total appearances.

 

Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon): The 33-year-old will provide veteran leadership on the young team. In 35 appearances across all competitions, Lacazette scored 22 goals and registered five assists this past season.

 

Bradley Locko (Brest): Locko appeared in 35 total matches for Brest, recording three assists during the 2023-24 season.

 

Soungoutou Magassa (AS Monaco): Magassa made 22 appearances for Monaco last season.

 

Guillaume Restes (Toulouse): The 19-year-old made 43 appearances this past season for Les Violets, registering nine clean sheets.

 

Adrien Truffert (Rennes): The 22-year-old appeared in 43 total matches for Les Rouge et Noirs, scoring two goals and registering seven assists.

 

Guinea:

 

Aliou Baldé (OGC Nice): The 21-year-old made nine appearances for Nice last season.

 

Issiaga Camara (OGC Nice): The teenager spent last season with Nice B.

 

Ousmane Camara (Auxerre): The 22-year-old striker has made 24 appearances in Ligue 2 throughout his career, scoring eight goals and registering three assists.

 

Amadou Diallo (Rennes): The 18-year-old spent last season with Rennes U19 team, scoring seven goals.

 

Madiou Keita (Auxerre): The 19-year-old spent last season with the AJ Auxerre B team.

 

Soumaïla Sylla (Reims): Sylla has been part of the Stade de Reims B team.

 

Abdoulaye Touré (Le Havre): Touré will provide veteran leadership as the 30-year-old made 30 appearances for Le Havre last season, scoring two goals.

 

Mali:

 

Lassine Diarra (Lyon): The 21-year-old goalkeeper has played for the Lyon B team.

 

Thiemoko Diarra (Reims): The 21-year-old spent last season on loan with LB Châteauroux.

 

Wilson Samaké (Rennes): Samaké spent last season playing for Rennes B team, making 25 appearances and scoring 20 goals.

 

Morocco:

 

Eliesse Ben Seghir (AS Monaco): Ben Seghir made 14 appearances for Monaco last season, scoring two goals and registering two assists.

 

Benjamin Bouchouari (Saint-Étienne): The 22-year-old made 36 appearances for Les Verts across all competitions last season.

 

Achraf Hakimi (PSG): The PSG star will be a leader for this Morocco team. Last season, the 25-year-old made 40 total appearances, scoring five goals and recording seven assists.

 

 

Yassine Kechta (Le Havre): The 22-year-old made 35 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and registering one assist.

 

Amir Richardson (Reims): Richardson made 28 total appearances while scoring three goals and one assist.

 

Oussama Targhalline (Le Havre): The 22-year-old made 16 total appearances for Le Havre.

 

New Zealand:

 

Ben Old (Saint-Étienne): The 21-year-old is a new arrival to Ligue 1 after playing in New Zealand for Wellington Phoenix last season, scoring five goals and registering four assists.

 

Uzbekistan:

 

Abdukodir Khusanov (RC Lens): The 20-year-old defender made 11 Ligue 1 appearances last season for Lens.

 

Four players also represent Ligue 2, including Bordeaux midfielder Issouf Sissokho and Paris FC goalkeeper Obed Nkambadio.

 

France:

 

Obed Nkambadio (Paris FC).

 

Guinea:

 

Rayane Doucouré (Red Star).

 

Mali:

Issouf Sissokho (Bordeaux)

 

The teams consist of players born on or after Jan. 1, 2001, with up to three older players allowed per team. Matches will occur from July 24 to Aug. 9 in Paris, Nantes, Bordeaux, Marseille, Nice, Saint-Étienne, and Lyon.
