The 2018 World Cup winner has made his long-awaited return to football, having chosen AS Monaco and Ligue 1 McDonald's as his new home.
AS Monaco have officially announced the signing of France international midfielder Paul Pogba on a free transfer, marking a first adventure in Ligue 1 McDonald's for the former Juventus and Manchester United player.
Pogba returns to France twelve years after leaving Le Havre for Manchester United’s academy. He went on to enjoy two trophy-laden spells at Juventus, as well as a record-breaking return to Old Trafford in 2016. Pogba had been without a club since his contract with Juventus was terminated by mutual agreement earlier this month, in the wake of a doping ban that kept him sidelined for over a year.
The Frenchman's ban was lifted on appeal and subsequently reduced to 18 months, and he has been ever since looking for his next career move. Pogba has never played first-team football in France, and has chosen the principality club as the platform to re-launch his career.

There has already been a sense of anticipation regarding the return of La Pioche. "Ligue 1 McDonald's will benefit not only from his talent and his charisma, but also from his international standing," said Ligue de Football Professionnel president Vincent Labrune in an interview with L'Équipe earlier this week. "That has been at the heart of our project for several seasons, and there is no doubt that the arrival of a world champion of his calibre will contribute to that greatly."
Monaco have already undergone a busy start to the transfer window, having already secured England international Eric Dier on a free transfer from Bayern Munich. Les Monégasques will be back in the UEFA Champions League next season, and are hoping to count on their new experienced heads. Monaco will face Cercle Bruges in their first friendly on 11th July, before heading to England for a pre-season training camp as they prepare for the 2025-2026 season.
