Stade de Reims goalkeeper Yehvann Diouf made 14 saves in the Champagne club's 2-0 victory at Lens last Friday, a Ligue 1 McDonald's record and followed that up with another clean sheet against Toulouse. His strong play has been an important part of the Champagne side's strong form -- learn more about his numbers in our latest statistical analysis.
14! That's the number of saves made by Yehvann Diouf in Stade de Reims' 2-0 victory over RC Lens last Friday night, in Matchday 29 of Ligue 1 McDonald's. Alongside Keito Nakamura's brace, the Champagne club's goalkeeper and captain was the other key player in his team's precious victory in the fight for survival.
He simply made the highest total number of saves in a Ligue 1 McDonald's match since Opta began analyzing the competition (2006/07). The record had previously belonged to Guillermo Ochoa and his 13 saves against OM with AC Ajaccio on October 22, 2011. In the five major European leagues, you have to go back to August 27, 2022 and a match with 19 saves by Yann Sommer with Borussia Monchenladbach against Bayern Munich (1-1) to find better.

Following this incredible performance, Yehvann Diouf became the goalkeeper with the most saves in the top flight this season (128, including another six on Sunday against Toulouse). Crucial in Stade de Reims' fight for survival, the 25-year-old Franco-Senegalese is ahead of Angers' Yahia Fofana (127) and Saint-Etienne's Gautier Larsonneur (120), two other goalkeepers from teams playing for survival and are therefore often tested.
Thirteenth in Ligue 1 McDonald's, with 32 points, Stade de Reims will have a lot to thank for once their survival is confirmed. According to Opta's Expected Goals on Target model, they have conceded 15.7 fewer goals than expected (57.7xGOT for 42 goals conceded - own goals excluded). This is the highest positive differential among goalkeepers in the top 5 European leagues in 2024/25 -- all thanks to Diouf.
