PSG opened the scoring early in the eighth minute thanks to a goal from Désiré Doué. It all began with Doué, who stood out with his dribbling. He passed the ball to Bradley Barcola on the left, who then set it up for Doué in the middle, and his shot was deflected into the goal by Gautier Lloris.
The home side were looking to add more goals in that first half but Le Havre's Mathieu Gorgelin stood tall as he made eight saves to keep the scoreline 1-0 heading into halftime.
Despite Gorgelin's efforts, PSG did add a second goal early in the second half. Doué made the difference on the left wing and passed to Senny Mayulu in front of him. He chipped the ball as Gorgelin dove at his feet, and Gonçalo Ramos had to tap it into the back of the net.
Although they faced a two-goal deficit and were playing on the road, Le Havre didn't quit. Didier Digard and his team cut into the lead with a goal in the 60th minute, thanks to a goal from Issa Soumaré.
Found at the far post from the corner, Ahmed Hassan beat Mayulu and headed the ball to Soumaré, who beat Matvei Safonov. Despite their efforts, Le Havre couldn't find the equalizer to leave the French capital with one point.
After the match, Lucas Hernández spoke with beIN Sports and shared his thoughts on the tightly contested win.
"There is never an easy match, especially against teams with something at stake. But it's great because all the players who step onto the field give their maximum. That's the strength of this team this year—everyone is involved and motivated to play every possible minute."
"We're all in the same boat, and the most important matches are still ahead of us this season. These are the matches we need to continue gaining momentum to approach the final challenges in the best possible way."
After scoring against Le Havre, Doué has scored in each of his last five starts for PSG in official competitions (six goals), becoming the second player aged 19 or younger to achieve this feat for the Parisian club in the 21st century after Kylian Mbappé (six).
