Sebastian Nanasi and AS Monaco have a crucial match against RC Strasbourg this weekend

With just five matches left in the Ligue 1 McDonald's season, the race for the European places is tighter than ever -- here's a look forward at how the season's last month could unfold. We'll take a look at each side's remaining matches and their odds of qualifying for each of the competitions thanks to Opta*.

AS Monaco - 2nd Place - 53 points - UCL 73.25% - UEL 7.67%

After a crucial victory over Marseille on Saturday to bounce back from a frustrating defeat on the road against Stade Brestois, Adi HĂĽtter's side controls their own destiny, and a place in the top four looks to be well within reach. While their form has been uneven on the road in the calendar year, their remaining trips are hardly daunting, and they're the hosts for their two most challenging matches, against in-form Strasbourg and Lyon.

Key matches: April 19 vs Strasbourg, May 11 vs Olympique Lyonnais

Olympique de Marseille - 3rd place - 52 points - ucl 46.28% - UEL 17.27%

Marseille had looked a sure bet to secure a return to the Champions League under Roberto de Zerbi, the Italian having overseen a large squad turnover that extended into the winter comfortably in second place.  However, after losing four of five matches, they've slipped to third, just a point ahead of a hard-charging Lyon in fourth. With injuries in defence and an attack that's scored just twice in those four losses, this side will have to dig deep to reach their goal, but could be helped by a comfortable run of fixtures.

Key matches: May 4 at LOSC Lille

Olympique Lyonnais - 4th place - 51 points - UCL 42.32% - UEL 18.35%

Led by in-form Rayan Cherki (five goals, five assists since the beginning of March), Les Gones have gone from strength to strength of late despite losing Malick Fofana and Ernest Nuamah for the season. While fixture congestion in the face of their continued participation in the Europa League could stretch their somewhat thin squad, besides next week's derby and a trip to face Monaco, their run-in looks far from daunting.

Key matches: April 20 at Saint-Étienne, May 11 at AS Monaco

LOSC LILLE - 5th place - 50 points - UCL 27.74% - UEL 23.42%

Despite a gutting elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Borussia Dortmund and several key absences, Bruno GĂ©nĂ©sio's team has continued to scrap for a return to Europe's top table. A loss to Lyon will surely have stung, but bookending it with a derby win over Lens and a fine display against a tricky Toulouse side will no doubt be a palliative.

Key matches: May 4 vs Marseille

RC strasbourg - 6th place - 50 points - UCL 8.71% - UEL 21.57%

The league's form team outside of Paris Saint-Germain, Liam Rosenior's young team is unbeaten in nine, but will surely rue letting a home win over OGC Nice slip from their grasp on Saturday, having come back from a goal down. With those two points, Racing would be just goal difference behind Marseille, but instead they face somewhat long odds to finish in the top four, but will be hoping for any European place. They'll have a chance to make a big step towards that on Saturday against Monaco, but have tricky matches remaining as they'll face three teams scrapping for relegation and a Paris Saint-Germain side who'll want to keep their unbeaten season alive.

Key matches: April 19 at AS Monaco, May 4 vs Paris Saint-Germain
