PSG Secure Ligue 1 Title After Tightly Contested Win Over Angers

The first 45 minutes were scoreless for the two sides. The Parisians recorded 11 shots total, while Angers countered with two. Despite the high number of shots, the home side couldn't find the back of the net, and the two sides went into the break 0-0.

Coming out of the break, PSG would crack Angers' defense thanks to the Khvicha Kvaratskhelia-Désiré Doué connection. Kvaratskhelia, on the left, delivered a cross to the far post, and arriving at full speed, Doué scored with a right-foot volley to give Enrique and his team a one-goal lead.

One goal was all PSG needed to edge Angers, who couldn't stop one moment of brilliance that allowed the opposition to score. After the match, Marquinhos, who is now the sole record holder for league titles with 10, spoke with beIN SPORTS to share his thoughts on securing the three points that led to the Ligue 1 McDonald's title.

"It's crazy, I'm very happy. Staying a long time in a top-level team is truly a challenge. The titles will remain in history. We have the ambition to win everything. When we don't win the French championship, it hurts, and that has happened to me twice."

"The team deserves to win. It's in our DNA to give everything on the field, to have an aggressive philosophy, to sweat for the jersey in every match, no matter the opponent. Since I was young, I've played for teams with this DNA. It's nice to see the supporters happy."

PSG won't have much time to celebrate their Ligue 1 title accomplishment as they need to turn the page and shift their focus to the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal tie against Aston Villa on Wednesday at Parc des Princes.

The Stat: 10

After scoring against Angers, Doué (11 goals, 11 assists) became the second player aged 19 or younger to score more than 10 goals and record more than 10 assists with a top-5 European club this season, joining Lamine Yamal of Barcelona (13 goals, 17 assists).
