Coupe de France: PSG survive Dunkerque scare to reach final

Despite a nervy start to the match that saw them down two goals after half an hour played, Paris Saint-Germain eventually ran out 4-2 winners thanks to a double from the prolific Ousmane Dembélé. In beating Ligue 2 side USL Dunkerque, they've earned a spot in the Coupe de France final against either Stade de Reims or AS Cannes.

Following a brace at the weekend, Désiré Doué was on the scoresheet again in PSG's come from behind win over Dunkerque

A strong start for the underdogs

Having beaten Racing Club de Lens in the Round of 64, PSG had reached the semifinals by beating a succession of amateur sides, but were now set to take on a team from the second division, and one which had already claimed plenty of top-flight scalps in beating Brest, LOSC Lille and AJ Auxerre to reach this evening's encounter at the Stade-Pierre Mauroy. Under Portuguese manager Luís Castro -- who had managed Gonçalo Ramos and João Neves while in charge of Benfica's reserves, the hosts would make good on their giant-killing reputation, striking first through Vincent Sasso (7') on a free kick. PSG were controlling the match, but failing to make good on their chances, and the hosts doubled their lead on the counter through Muhannad Al Saad (27').

PSG roar back

In the waning stages of the first half, though, it was Dembélé, irresistible as always, who would sound the alarm, finding the top corner to pull the capital side back into the match with a 2-1 scoreline at the break. With the bit between their teeth, PSG leveled soon after the break, this time with Dembélé turning provider with a sublime cross for Marquinhos, the Brazilian gladly heading home to make it two-all on 48 minutes. Just after the hour, Désiré Doué would give his side the lead, beating Ewen Jaouen with a shot from outside the area.

Dunkerque would try to respond, but in vain, as PSG, dominant on the ball throughout, would even add a fourth in added time, with Dembélé once again continuing his good form. Their place in the final secured, it's now back to Ligue 1 McDonald's action this weekend for PSG, as they look to earn a point that will seal the title for them at home to Angers SCO on Saturday.
