Petrovic keeps things level

From the off, Lyon took the game by the scruff of the neck, with Jordan Veretout testing Djorde Petrovic from close range, but the Serbian international was equal to the task. Ten minutes later, the visitors had another big chance, but Georges Mikautadze hit the crossbar. Frustrated but undeterred, Lyon had another big chance but again Petrovic kept out Ernest Nuamah. Just past the half hour, it was Veretout again, heading over, but halftime would come with Strasbourg having responded and the match still scoreless.

A crazy second half

The match had remained scoreless for its first 45 minutes, but the second would be anything but, with the two sides combining for six goals. Strasbourg had all the initiative to start the half, forcing Lyon into a series of corners before finally breaking their resistance with Andrey Santos heading home from Dilane Bakwa's corner. Five minutes later, on the hour, Bakwa went from provider to scorer, stroking home a low shot across the face of goal after an impressive run.

Lyon would respond, though, with Corentin Tolisso heading home to make it 2-1 after Petrovic had saved Rayan Cherki's initial effort. Strasbourg were ready with a response, though, as Bakwa then forced a flying save from Lucas Perri in the Lyon goal (66') before Emanuel Emegha doubled the lead with a low finish across goal (72'). Substitute Samuel Amo-Ameyaw added a fourth two minutes before full time and while Mikautadze would add a consolation goal deep in added time, the result was never in doubt, allowing Racing to extend what is now a seven-match unbeaten run.

The stat: 9

Djordje Petrovic made nine saves for Strasbourg, conceding for just the third time in seven matches.
