Following the closing of an exciting UEFA Champions League phase in the week, all four Ligue 1 McDonald's sides have qualified for the elimination phase of the tournament. However, three of those sides have to go through the extra play-off round in order to access the round of 16. Paris Saint-Germain finished the league phase with two wins that ended up guaranteeing Les Parisiens a tie against a fellow Ligue 1 Mcdonald's team in the play-off round: either Brest or Monaco.
The draw thus took place on Friday and we now know the answer: Paris Saint-Germain will face Stade Brestois in an all-French knockout play-off tie. Meanwhile, AS Monaco will have to face a replay against Portuguese side Benfica - who have already beaten the principality side at Stade Louis II in the league phase this season (3-2). The first leg of these knockout rounds will be played on the 11th and 12th February, with the return legs taking place one week later.
Following their seventh place finish in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League, Bruno Génésio's Lille have automatically qualified straight to the last 16 in the elimination stages of the UCL. Les Dogues won emphatically against Dutch side Feyenoord (6-1) to cap-off an excellent league phase which included wins over Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, and a draw against Juventus.
