Paris Saint-Germain made a major signing this January transfer window to secure former Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Despite being 23 years old, the Georgian international already has a list of accomplishments he brings to the French capital.
Kvaratskhelia rose through the youth system and started his senior career with Dinamo Tbilisi in 2017. He made his debut on September 29, 2017, coming on as a 62nd-minute substitute in a 1–1 draw against Kolkheti-1913 Poti.
After leaving Dinamo Tbilisi in 2017, Kvaratskhelia played for Rustavi and Lokomotiv Moscow, but it was playing for Rubin Kazan and Dinamo Batumi that he found his footing, leading to his big-time move to Napoli.
At Rubin Kazan, Kvaratskhelia made 73 total appearances, scoring nine goals and recording 18 assists while at Dinamo Batumi, he made 18 total appearances, registering three goals and three assists.
This production led to Kvaratskhelia joining Napoli in 2022 and in his first season, he played a vital role in the Serie A side snapping their 33-year league title drought. Kvaratskhelia recorded 14 goals and 17 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions for Napoli.
Kvaratskhelia's success extends to the Georgian national team, where he played a key role in their qualification for UEFA Euro 2024 and earned a spot in the 26-man group for the tournament.
On June 26, he delivered a standout performance, earning the player of the match award after scoring his first goal of the tournament just two minutes into a 2–0 win against Portugal. The victory secured his team's place in the knockout stage as one of the top third-placed teams.
After playing half of the 2024-25 season with Napoli, Kvaratskhelia made the move to PSG this month, signing a contract that will keep him in the French capital until 2029.
On Friday, the capital club announced his arrival, and the attacking player shared his initial thoughts on joining the reigning Ligue 1 McDonald's champions.
"It's a dream come true to be here. I’ve heard so many great things about Paris Saint-Germain. I'm incredibly proud to join such a big club, and I can't wait to wear my new colors."
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi also spoke about the player's arrival and noted that the player was eager to make the move to Paris.
"We're excited to welcome Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to the Paris Saint-Germain family. Khvicha is one of the most exciting talents in world football – not only is he incredibly skilled, but he also has the courage and determination to always fight for the team.
"He was truly eager to join our great club, and I’m confident he’ll achieve all his goals here. We're thrilled to strengthen our squad and keep making the team the real star of Paris Saint-Germain."
