Luis Enrique and his side will be aiming to keep their unbeaten Ligue 1 record intact this season as they welcome Pierre Sage's in-form Lyon side to the Parc des Princes on Sunday evening. PSG managed to get a much needed win in the Champions League against Salzburg last week, whilst OL will go into the game after enjoying a 3-2 win over Frankfurt in the Europa League.
With a battle on their hands to qualify for the elimination phase of the Champions League, Les Parisiens still sit top of Ligue 1 - with Marseille chasing behind them on their heels. After going on a 6-game winning run, Les Rouge et Bleu went on to record goalless draws against Angers and then Auxerre away from home.
"We know Lyon quite well, having had the opportunity to play in the French Cup final and Ligue 1 last season," said Luis Enrique during his pre-match press conference. "It's a very positive time for them, with some great players. There's a lot of motivation to rise to the occasion. OL's danger... If they can get the ball, they're a very high-level team. They have very high player profiles."
Lyon are currently one of the form sides in Ligue 1, after winning three of their last five games in the competition. Les Gones are hoping to take their 5th place into the winter break, coming off a dominant victory over Angers after beating OGC Nice at home. Manager Pierre Sage warned his side need to be at their very best if they are to get something against PSG on Sunday evening.
"It's never a good time to play Paris Saint-Germain," said the Lyon boss. "They're top of the league. We'll be going there with ambition. We'll need to be efficient when we've got the ball and push them into their stride, but also be effective defensively. We'll need to be the best version of ourselves."
OL captain Lacazette was confident ahead of the game. “We listen more to the coach and the instructions. We've improved our efficiency in front of goal, even if we can still do better. We knew things would turn around and that's what's happening. We're trying more ideas because we have more confidence."
"Paris is Paris. There's no need to say any more about what they represent in France. They're a big team with great players. We need to stay focused on ourselves and do what we have to do.”
