Ronaldinho was the star of the show as Angers SCO welcomed the Brazilian legend for a friendly match.

This hasn't been the easiest season for Angers SCO, to say the least. After being promoted to Ligue 1 McDonald's on the back of finishing second in Ligue 2 last year, they were limited in terms of their budget, and spent no money on incoming players, adding only free transfers and loanees.

On the pitch, Alexandre Dujeux's side would have to wait until Matchday 9 to pick up their first victory, and while their form of late (two wins and two draws from their last five) has pulled them out of the bottom three, the campaign has been a challenging one. However, their fans were given ample reason to smile last week as the team welcomed Ronaldinho, a legend for Brazil and Paris Saint-Germain, to the Stade-Raymond Kopa to take part in a friendly match.

Joined by Valdo, another legend for both Paris Saint-Germain and his country, "Ronny" took part in a match before some ten thousand fans,  leading out a Brazilian "legends" side to face a France legends side. Between the two sides, there were plenty of players familiar to fans of Ligue 1 including Claude Makelélé, (FC Nantes, Olympique de Marseille, PSG), Cris (Olympique Lyonnais), Sonny Anderson (AS Monaco, among other sides) and Claudio Caçapa (Lyon, Evian).

The match itself was a typical friendly involving former players, as "Brazil," clad in their iconic yellow and green, ran out 5-4 winners with Ronaldinho himself scoring the opening goal from the penalty spot. Even if the spectacle on the pitch would have paled in comparison to a full-blooded Ligue 1 match, it was nonetheless a wonderful chance for fans of Le SCO to see some true legends of the game in action. Ronaldinho even was presented with a personalized club jersey, giving him a welcome token of appreciation.
