OGC Nice 2-1 AS Monaco: Laborde the hero as Les Aiglons claim derby win

It was a huge win in the Côte d'Azur derby for OGC Nice, with big ramifications for the top of the Ligue 1 table. Gaëtan Laborde's strike in the 71st minute was enough for the Les Aiglons to take all three points after initially going behind in the first half. Breel Embolo opened the scoring for the away side after having an initial strike ruled out for offside. The Swiss international was found by Maghnes Akliouche in the box and finished coolly past Marcin Bulka (39').

Les Aiglons would react only minutes later, as Ali Abdi hit a perfect free-kick into the box and Evann Guessand got the better of Magassa to head home (45+2'). Things would get a lot more complicated for Les Monégasques, who went down to ten men after a second yellow was given to Vanderson (45'+2'). A big scuffle would commence just before the half-time whistle, with the score remaining level.

The second period saw a hotly contested affair, but it was the hosts at the Allianz Riviera that would take the lead late on through Gaëtan Laborde. A huge mistake from Krépin Diatta with a backpass would give an opportunity for the Frenchman to bear down on goal, finishing past Majecki with no hesitation (71'). A big three points and bragging rights for Les Aiglons and Franck Haise, with Monaco slipping up in the race at the top of the table.

Montpellier 0-3 Toulouse: Zakaria Aboukhlal scores brace as Les Violets dominate away to MHSC

Jean-Louis Gasset's return to the dugout as Montpellier manager began in far from ideal fashion, succumbing to a 3-0 defeat to a dominant Toulouse side at Stade de la Mosson. Zakaria Aboukhlal opened the scoring early on (5'), before quickly racing to a brace only minutes later (8'). A second goal in two matches for Josh King put the visitors miles ahead in the affair, and matters were only made worse for MHSC when Téji Savanier saw red at the beginning of the second half (51').

Strasbourg 3-1 Nantes: Andrey Santos scores brace in convincing win over Nantes

Strasbourg returned to winning ways after being defeated by Paris Saint-Germain last weekend thanks to a brace from Andrey Santos against FC Nantes. The Brazilian opened the scoring in the first half after being assisted by Habib Diarra (17'). Santos then grabbed a second following the break (57') before Dilane Bakwa effectively killed off the game with a finish that was given following a VAR review (73'). Herba Guirassy grabbed a consolation effort late on, but it wasn't enough to stop Les Alsatiens on their way to their 3rd team of the season.
