Ángel Gomes made his full England debut

For England, LOSC Lille midfielder Ángel Gomes made his first start for his country and played 90 minutes, helping the Three Lions to a 2-0 home win. In Albania, Georgian and Olympique Lyonnais striker Georges Mikautadze was in the eleven for the visitors and despite his failing to score, they picked up their second successive win over the hosts. The French U-21s were also in action, picking up a 2-0 win over their Bosnian counterparts to move top of their European Championships qualifying group, with AS Monaco midfielder Maghnes Akliouche on the scoresheet for Les Espoirs.

In Group A, OGC Nice fullback Ali Abdi scored to help Tunisia to a second successive win, 2-1 away to Gambia. Gabon bounced back from a heavy loss in Morocco with a home win over Central African Republic, with Toulouse FC striker Shavy Babicka finding the net. In Group E, Algeria made it six points from six, with Stade Rennais forward Amine Gouiri netting for the second successive match in a 3-0 win over Liberia. In Niger, Stade Rennais defender Alidu Seidu opened the scoring for Ghana, but the Black Stars were pegged back after the hosts responded ten minutes from time.

In Group G, Ivory Coast recorded a second successive 2-0 win, with ReimsOumar Diakité scoring in a 0-2 win away to Chad. LOSC Lille striker Mohamed Bayo opened the scoring for hosts Guinea, but Tanzania would bounce back to hand the Syli a 2-1 loss that leaves them bottom of the group. In Mozambique, Brest’s Mama Baldé found the net for Guinea-Bissau, but his side fell to the hosts, 2-1. Finally, in Group L, a Senegal team featuring Lyon’s Moussa Niakhaté and Monaco’s Lamine Camara, among others, bounced back from a disappointing draw against Burkina Faso with a 1-0 win away to Burundi.

CONMEBOL/AFC/CONCACAF

In the third round of AFC World Cup Qualifying, Japan rolled to a second successive win, with Takumi Minamino of AS Monaco featuring from the off, while the Stade de Reims duo of Junya Ito and Keito Nakamura came off the bench in a 5-0 win. In Oman, Lee Kang-In of PSG wasn’t on the scoresheet, but played a big role in helping South Korea to a 3-1 win.

In North America, the United States drew one-all with New Zealand with Toulouse’s Mark McKenzie and Monaco’s Folarin Balogun playing 90 minutes and Caleb Wiley of RC Strasbourg coming off the bench. For the visitors, Ben Old of AS Saint-Étienne came off the bench to play just short of half an hour. In Dallas, Canada and Mexico played out a scoreless draw, with defenders Moïse Bombito (OGC Nice) and Derek Cornelius (Olympique de Marseille) both featuring from the off and LOSC Lille striker Jonathan David coming off the bench.

Finally, in South America, Marquinhos’ Brazil were stunned, 1-0, by Paraguay. In Venezuela, Toulouse midfielder Cristián Casseres helped his country hold Uruguay in a scoreless draw, while another PSG defender, Willian Pacho, helped Ecuador to a 1-0 home win over Peru, with RC LensJhoanner Chávez coming off the bench.
