Not counting Kévin Danois at Auxerre, there are currently 13 Danish players in Ligue 1 McDonald's! That's five more than last season... and only four three years ago. It's the highest total since the 2014/15 season, which had 11 (including 4 at Evian TG). It's a sign of a genuine trend, particularly visible at Toulouse FC.
The last 5 goals scored by the Toulouse side in Ligue 1 McDonald's came from the duo of Casper Tengstedt (3) and Thomas Jørgensen (2). The midfielder, incidentally, became a Danish international during the international break.
These two players keep TFC's ties with Denmark alive, as the club now has the most Danish scorers (5, including Martin Braithwaite, Mikkel Desler and Rasmus Nicolaisen) and the most goals scored by Danes (44) in Ligue 1 McDonald's in the 21st century.
Martin Braithwaite, who later went on to Barça, remains for now the best example of a Dane's success in the Pink City with his 39 goals in Ligue 1 McDonald's, though he is probably closely followed in the fans' hearts by current captain Rasmus Nicolaisen. That makes the striker the 2nd most prolific Danish player to have played in the top flight, behind Erik Jensen (42 goals in the 1950s).
STAT : Toulouse has seen 6 Danes wear its colors in Ligue 1 McDonald's, the 6th-highest total among clubs.
While recent history puts Toulouse at the top in this area, other clubs have had periods heavily influenced by Danes.
First among them is LOSC Lille, which defined the early 1990s with its 4 blond Danes: the two Nielsens, Frandsen and Friis-Hansen.
The Dogues have seen 13 Danes in total play for them, including top scorer Erik Jensen, who netted 14 goals in 1951/52. That total has never been equalled since. Mika Biereth came closest with his exceptional half-season at AS Monaco in 24/25, capped off with 13 goals.
With 66 goals scored by Danish players, the northern club also sits in 1st place in the all-time ranking, ahead of Bordeaux (61) and Toulouse (44) on the podium.
