International Call-Ups: All Ligue 1 McDonald’s Players Selected

Zinédine Zidane, the new France head coach, called up six players currently playing in Ligue 1 McDonald’s on Friday. Three of them are from PSG (Dembélé, Doué and Zaïre-Emery), while Robin Risser (RCL), who was ultimately ruled out, and two new faces : Guillaume Restes (TFC, 21 years old) and Estéban Lepaul (SRFC)  were also called up. They are not the only players set to experience an international camp during this break.

A FIRST CALL-UP FOR LEPAUL AND RESTES, BUT NOT ONLY THEM...

Several players who have impressed since the start of the Ligue 1 McDonald’s season have also received their first call-up to their respective national teams. This is particularly the case among African nations, with two Monaco players, Sadibou Sané (Senegal) and Stanis Idumbo (DR Congo), Toulouse midfielder Christ Tapé (Ivory Coast), and Auxerre defender Lamine Sy, who has been called up by Patrick Vieira for Senegal. Lorient player Noah Mbamba (DR Congo), formerly a Belgium U21 international, could have made his debut for Sébastien Desabre's DR Congo side, but he withdrew due to injury.

After scoring against AJ Auxerre, Lyon defender Félix Bacher (Austria) will also experience his first taste of international football during this break.

Meanwhile, Mika Godts and Loïs Openda have returned to the Red Devils after missing the World Cup. Ally Samatta has also earned a recall for Tanzania thanks to his strong start to the season with HAC, having last played for his country in November 2024.

One of the revelations of the start of the season, Thomas Jorgensen (TFC), could earn his first international cap after receiving his second call-up. The Danish midfielder was already part of the squad in June. Lyon midfielder Mads Bidstrup is in a similar position.

UNDER-21s : PARIS BRUNNER REWARDED, A FIRST FOR ETHAN MBAPPE !
 

At youth level, Paris Brunner (Germany U21) has received his first call-up for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifiers. Already capped at U16 and U17 level, Mezian Mesloub (16) has been called up by Portugal U21, alongside Strasbourg players Dario Essugo and Diogo Sousa, both of whom joined Ligue 1 McDonald’s this summer. RCSA have a total of eight players called up at U21 level: Coulibaly (GER), Antwi (SWE), Oyedele (POL), Amo-Ameyaw (ENG), Hogsberg and Harder (DEN).

Luca Koleosho (Italy) returns to the U21 squad after making his senior debut in June. Lille summer signings Basar Onal has been included in the Turkey U21 squad, as has Loun Srdanovic (Switzerland U21). Sion Oppong (Toulouse FC) is also discovering the U21 level and has been included in the Sweden U21 squad.

Having moved from Nice to OL, Kaïl Boudache has joined up with the Algeria U21 squad for the second time, following his call-up in June.

For France U21, Gérald Baticle has called up seven players currently playing in Ligue 1 McDonald’s this season (Patouillet, Danois, Mawissa, Ganiou, Mayulu, Versini and E. Mbappé). The 19-year-old Lille player has received his first call-up, while SB29 have two players in the squad. Having joined Ligue 1 McDonald’s this summer, Giovani Versini has been called up once again, alongside his teammate Mathieu Patouillet.
