Torres the hero as PSG battle back against Rennes

Rennes take an early lead
With only the suspended Nuno Mendes unavailable, Paris Saint-Germain fielded their strongest side possible, but notably none of their summer arrivals were included in it, despite this marking their third competitive match of the season following the UEFA Supercup and Trophée des Champions. As for Rennes -- a club still in flux in the mercato, they lined up in a 4-3-3 to match the visitors, with Issa Soumaré, Charlie Cresswell and Adrien Thomasson all making their debuts for the club.
In a match that had been moved to Roazhon Park at the last minute owing to poor conditions at the Parc des Princes, the hosts would take an early lead, with Sebastian Szymanski netting with just nine minutes gone, scoring a powerful shot from range. After snatching at a pair of chances, PSG would rue their profligacy as Esteban Lepaul picked up where he left off last season with a fine near-post finish from Musa Al-Taamari's low cross, putting the hosts up 2-0 at the break.

Torres changes the game
Into the second half, the champions responded with a furious display, with Luis Enrique bringing on Ferran Torres and Mika Godts. Shortly thereafter, Desiré Doué was twice denied by Brice Samba in the span of two minutes. PSG would finally break the Bretons' resistance on 70 minutes, with Fabián Ruiz's ball over the top picking out his Spanish compatriot Torres, who slotted the ball past Samba.
The two Spaniards combined again ten minutes from time, with Ruiz's cross headed powerfully home by Torres to level the match. As it was, though, PSG would need a brilliant clearance off the line by Willian Pacho to escape with a draw before they turn their attention to next Friday's trip to face LOSC at the Stade Pierre Mauroy, while Rennes will host promoted Le Mans.

Ferran Torres becomes just the third Paris Saint-Germain player to score a double on his debut, and the first to do since Zlatan Ibrahimović in 2012.
