Ferran Torres has joined Paris Saint-Germain from Spanish champions FC Barcelona

Already the two-time defending Champions League titlists, Paris Saint-Germain have moved to strengthen in recent weeks with a pair of new signings -- learn more about one of them, Spanish forward Ferran Torres in our latest One To Watch.

Valencian roots

Born just outside of the city of Valencia in the small town of Foios, Torres came through the academy at Valencia, making his debut at age 17. A lanky right-footed player with a silky style, capable of playing across the front line, Torres quickly became a regular, and would make nearly 100 appearances for Los Murciélagos by the end of the 2019/20 season, earning comparisons to another Valencia legend, Joaquín.

Having played a key role for Valencia's 2019 Copa del Rey triumph, he also was a regular for his country, and helped La Rioja to win the U-19 Euros that summer. More success followed in the next season, where he was vital to Los Che reaching the Round of 16 of the Champions League.

An ill-fated spell abroad

His strong play and versatility saw him courted by countryman Pep Guardiola, and he joined Manchester City in 2020, making his senior debut for Spain not long after. But despite a decent first season at the Etihad, including a League Cup and league double, he was out of sorts in the following campaign, due to a combination of the arrivals of Jack Grealish and Julián Alvarez, as well injury. That winter, he would return to La Liga by joining Barcelona for €55M.

Success for club and country

Back in Spain, Torres went from trophy to trophy for both his new club and for Spain. Having already picked up the 2021 Nations League, he then featured as they won both the European Championships in 2024 and this summer's World Cup. Torres, of course, scored the winner in a nerve-jangling final, helping to add another honor to the three league titles he earned while with the Blaugrana.

Now working under his compatriot Luis Enrique -- himself a former Barcelona player and manager, Torres will add versatility and depth to Les Parisiens' attack, making them an even stronger side.
