The first official match of the 2026/27 Ligue 1 McDonald's season is not to be missed! The Trophée des Champions will mark the start of a new season, with the opening gameweek set for the weekend of 22nd/23rd August.
Following a draw, which took place in the presence of both clubs, RC Lens were designated as the host of the 2026/27 edition of the Trophée des Champions.
It will take place on Sunday 16th August 2026 at 20:45 (CET) at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis.
The meeting will see the best two French teams from last season, Lens and Paris Saint-Germain, face off. The two clubs have already faced each other in this competition. Back in 1998, it was PSG who got the better of Lens, who had just been crowned league champions (1-0).
For the 2026 edition, PSG qualified by being crowned champions for the 14th time in Ligue 1 McDonald's, ahead of Lens.
Lens will participate in the second Trophée des Champions in their history, thanks to their first-ever win in the Coupe de France.
Beaten during their two Ligue 1 McDonald's meetings in the 2025/26 season (2-0 on both occasions), Lens will try to end PSG's run of four consecutive wins in the Trophée des Champions.
PSG also hold the record for the most wins in the competition (14), whilst Lens will participate for just the second time.
