Already among the league’s most effective dribblers last season (9th with 50 successful dribbles), Yann Gboho took his game to another level in 2025/26.
Although his performances were not enough to earn a place in Côte d’Ivoire’s squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, the Toulouse midfielder finished top of the Ligue 1 McDonald’s rankings for both attempted and completed dribbles.
With 77 successful dribbles, Gboho enjoyed a comfortable lead over the chasing pack. RC Strasbourg Alsace’s Julio Enciso and Olympique de Marseille’s Mason Greenwood shared second place on 54.
His ability to beat opponents played a major role in the best statistical season of his career. Gboho scored a personal-best eight goals, improving on the five he managed last campaign, while also contributing three assists.
His direct and aggressive style also drew plenty of fouls. The Toulouse man won 69 fouls during the season, the second-highest total in Ligue 1 McDonald’s.
No player attempted more dribbles than Gboho, who finished the season with 164 attempts. His success rate of 47% was comparable to Greenwood’s and ahead of both Abline (42%) and Thauvin (41%).
However, he was surpassed by Enciso, whose 54% success rate ranked among the league’s best.
Among players who attempted at least 60 dribbles during the campaign, only Paris Saint-Germain’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (54%) and AJ Auxerre’s Kévin Danois (56%) matched or bettered the Strasbourg playmaker.
Mason Greenwood recorded the highest number of successful dribbles in a single match while maintaining a 100% success rate. The Marseille forward achieved five successful dribbles from five attempts on two occasions, against AJ Auxerre and LOSC Lille.
Gboho set his personal season-high as early as Matchday 1, completing seven dribbles from eight attempts against OGC Nice.
Only one player managed to surpass that tally during the campaign: Olympique Lyonnais forward Endrick. Following his arrival in January, the Brazilian completed nine dribbles from 18 attempts against Stade Brestois.
