Risser Enjoys a Dream Season

Set to represent France at the 2026 FIFA World Cup next month, Robin Risser has earned his place thanks to an outstanding first season as a Ligue 1 McDonald's number one. At just 21 years old, the RC Lens goalkeeper was also named Best Goalkeeper of the 2025/26 season at the UNFP Awards.

This season, the Sang et Or shot-stopper helped marshal the second-best defence in Ligue 1 McDonald's, with Lens conceding just 35 goals. He also ranked among the league's leading goalkeepers across several statistical categories.

Sixth in the standings for save percentage, Risser also excelled from the penalty spot, saving two penalties during the campaign. Only Olympique Lyonnais' Dominik Greif performed better, with three penalty saves.

Risser kept 11 clean sheets throughout the season, placing him second overall behind Lille's Berke Özer, who recorded 13. The young Frenchman also ranked third for goals conceded per match and fourth in the league for goals prevented.

Koffi's Outstanding Campaign

Another goalkeeper who exceeded expectations this season was Hervé Koffi. Loaned from RC Lens to Angers SCO, the Burkina Faso international produced a remarkable Ligue 1 McDonald's campaign.

At 29 years old, Koffi prevented an astonishing 12.92 goals for his side according to the data. That figure was nearly double that of his closest challenger, Berke Özer (6.67).

No goalkeeper in the division was more influential this season. Koffi registered 123 saves, with only Strasbourg's Mike Penders also surpassing the 100-save mark (108). The Angers goalkeeper also finished the season with the league's best save percentage at 77.2%.

Safonov and Chevalier Shine in the Data

In that category, Paris Saint-Germain's Matvey Safonov ranked second with a save percentage of 74.6%, highlighting how he established himself as the club's first-choice goalkeeper during the season ahead of Lucas Chevalier.

The Frenchman was not far behind, ranking fourth with a save percentage of 71.7%.

The two PSG goalkeepers were also the only players in Ligue 1 McDonald's to record an average of fewer than one goal conceded per match. Chevalier led the way with 0.76 goals conceded per game, narrowly ahead of Safonov's 0.93.
