2025/26: The most notable stats of the Ligue 1 McDonald's season

The 10 most notable stats

  • This season in Ligue 1 McDonald's (863 goals) had the second-highest average goals per game in the 21st century (2.82), just behind last season's figure (2.98).
  • AS Monaco scored 17 goals through their substitutes, a record for clubs in France's top-flight.
  • 61 goals were scored at the Vélodrome this season (41 by Marseille and 20 by their opponents), the highest number in any stadium in the 2025/26 season.
  • RC Lens had the second-best season in their history in terms of points per match (2.06) and win percentage (64.7%), just behind their total in the 2022/23 campaign (2.21 and 65.8%).
  • SCO Angers have lost just two points, having led in matches this season, fewer than any other team in Europe's top five leagues and a record in a full Ligue 1 McDonald's season since PSG in 2017/18 (2).
  • AJ Auxerre stayed up, having spent 210 days in the bottom three in Ligue 1 McDonald's in 2025/26, including 196 consecutive days between 26th October and 9th May, the day before they beat Nice.
  • FC Metz have been relegated to Ligue 2 BKT for the 12th time in their history; that is two more than any other team. It is also their eighth relegation in 13 seasons in the 21st century.
  • Lille OSC scored 23 goals in the final quarter of an hour in Ligue 1 McDonald's this season, a record for a team in a single season since PSG back in the 2020/21 campaign (also 23).
  • The starters for Strasbourg this season had an average age of 21 years and 332 days, the lowest average age in Europe's top five leagues, ahead of PSG (24 years and 11 days).
  • FC Nantes finished the season with 23 points, at least 10 points fewer than in any other season in the top flight (33 in 2023/24).

Metz: masters of dribbling

If it is PSG who completed the most dribbles this season in Ligue 1 McDonald's (723), ahead of Strasbourg (686) and Toulouse (586), it is Metz who have the best dribble completion percentage (48.4%).

Le Havre: strong in the duels

Nine clubs have a duels won percentage above 50%. Leading that list is Lille, just ahead of Le Havre on 51.6%. 

PSG: a unique passing game

The most dominant team this season, leading in numerous statistical categories, PSG are particularly dominant in attacks constructed. This season, Luis Enrique's players constructed 218 attacks, ahead of second-placed OM with 120.

There is the same level of domination in terms of sequences that included more than 10 passes. PSG had 885 compared to Marseille, in second, who had 562.

Penalties: a big gap between PSG and Paris Fc

The two Parisian clubs are this season opposed in the standings for penalties conceded in Ligue 1 McDonald's. If the champions only conceded four (only one of which was scored), newly promoted Paris FC are last in this ranking with 12. 

PSG are also one of four teams to have obtained eight penalties in the 2025/26 season, alongside OM, Brest, and Lille. LOSC are the only ones to have scored seven. 

Woodwork: Le Havre and Angers thankful

While on the one hand, PSG have struck the opposition's woodwork on 22 occasions (the highest figure), Le Havre and Angers have both been saved by the woodwork on 16 occasions. OM (15) round out the podium.
