Dimitri Lucea is just the latest youngster to break into the Paris Saint-Germain first team -- learn more about his story in our latest "One to Watch."
Born in Tremblay, not far from the Charles de Gaulle airport, Lucea hails from the same Parisian suburb as Maghnes Akliouche, continuing the proud tradition of the capital city being a fertile ground for the country's very best young talent. In making his debut against Lens in midweek, and then starting in the derby against Paris FC on Sunday, Lucea joined the likes of Warren Zaïre-Emery, Senny Mayulu and Ibrahim Mbaye as youngsters taking a big step under the auspices of Luis Enrique, a marked change from much of the QSI era.
Indeed, while Presnel Kimpembe had flown the flag for homegrown players, the likes of Christopher Nkunku, Timothy Weah, Kingsley Coman and Mike Maignan had all departed the club as youngsters without ever really having had a chance to impact the first team. Lucea was almost one of those, as his strong play for his local side saw him snapped up by Lille in 2022, taking him far from Paris, to a club whose academy was rather less renowned for youth development in recent years.

Last summer, though, Lucea would return to the capital, joining PSG after disciplinary issues with Lille. Shaking off his bad-boy reputation, he quickly made a name for himself in the UEFA Youth League. Despite having started at left back against Paris FC, the 6'2" Lucea is a centre back by trade, and is never one to shy from a challenge, playing with a true blood-and thunder style that displays his eagerness for a challenge.
While still needing to develop in terms of his passing acumen, he showed his level with Les Dogues, at Clairefontaine and back with the capital side, impressing enough to become a regular for his country at U-19 level, and was recently called into first team training owing to the absence of Nuno Mendes. Despite his recent appearances, he is still far from becoming a first team regular, given not only the strong play of Marquinhos and Willian Pacho but last summer's signing of Ilya Zabarni, Lucea has the physical tools to become a potent part as the champions consider their next steps.
