SC Bastia delivered one of the shocks of the Ligue 2 weekend, beating AS Saint-Étienne 2-0 and climbing off the bottom of the table for the first time since August. Sainté's promotion push suffered a major setback, as they were caught cold inside the opening minute. Alexandre Zaouai capitalised on a high turnover and unleashed a stunning long-range strike into the top corner after just 44 seconds.
Despite dominating possession, Les Verts were repeatedly denied by goalkeeper Lisandru Olmeta before Bastia doubled their lead in the second half through Joachim Eickmayer’s composed finish. Saint-Étienne remain 2nd but are now level on points with Le Mans and four points behind the leaders.
At the top, Troyes capitalised on their rivals’ slip with a narrow 1-0 win over US Boulogne. After a tight first half, Tawfik Bentayeb struck the decisive goal with an excellent volley early in the second period. The victory sees Troyes restore a four-point cushion at the summit, strengthening their position in the race for automatic promotion with just a handful of matches remaining.
Elsewhere, Stade de Reims boosted their play-off ambitions with an entertaining 3-2 home win against Red Star FC. Early goals from Nakamura and Akieme put Reims in control before Red Star responded through Ikanga. A frantic finale saw both sides score in stoppage time, but Reims held on for a crucial victory that keeps them firmly in the promotion play-off mix.
At the bottom, Stade Lavallois continued their push for survival with a 2-0 win over USL Dunkerque. Mamadou Camara opened the scoring from the penalty spot early on, and Ethan Clavreul wrapped up the result late in the game. Laval are now just two points from safety and unbeaten in four matches, while Dunkerque’s difficult run extends to eight games without a win.
