Ousmane Dembélé struck twice in ten minutes to help lift the leaders against Toulouse

Ousmane Dembélé scored a first half brace as Paris Saint-Germain moved four points clear at the the top of the Ligue 1 McDonald's table with a 3-1 win over Toulouse. Catch up on all the action from the opening game of Matchday 28 at the Parc des Princes.

An experimental eleven, but Dembélé is at the double!

With players from Portugal coming back from North America after their win over the United States, and an eye on next week's Champions League match against Liverpool, Luis Enrique opted to play a rotated squad, with Lee Kang-In and Lucas Beraldo both played in midfield, and Ilya Zabarnyi starting in place of Marquinhos in defence. As for Toulouse, they also made some enforced with youngster Seny Koumbassa in for the injured Charlie Cresswell

As one might expect, the hosts started the stronger, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia having a pair of fine early chances (3, 8'), the first forcing a diving save from Guillaume Restes. Toulouse's resistance would soon be broken, though, as Ousmane Dembélé opened the scoring with a sublime volley from the edge of the area, perfectly catching the ball in midflight to give his side the lead on 23 minutes. Toulouse would respond, though, showing their strength at set pieces as Matvey Safonov flapped at a corner and Rasmus Nicolaisen headed Les Violets level (27').

Ramos seals the result in added time

While Toulouse had done well to battle back, the irresistible Dembélé was on target again just six minutes later, tapping in at the back post after a corner was headed on by Kvaratskhelia (33'). That lead would hold until the interval, and after the break the Georgian was again the danger man as he had a shot flash just wide of the post (51'). Dembélé then though he had a hat trick (54') but the offside flag was up, and from there much of the energy drifted from the match.

Coming off the bench, Gonçalo Ramos would then seal the result in the second minute of added time, netting for the sixth time in Ligue 1 just four minutes after replacing Desiré Doué. The three points well in hand, the capital side will now turn their focus to Liverpool, with the home leg of their quarterfinal tie scheduled for Wednesday while Toulouse will host Lille next weekend.

The stat: 84

Ousmane Dembélé has scored a goal every eight-four minutes in Ligue 1 McDonald's this season, a figure bettered only by Harry Kane (66.7) in Europe's top five leagues.
