There were plenty of Ligue 1 McDonald's players in action over the weekend, with the international break in full flow. We take you through some of the best action.
PSG's Lee Kang-in was on the losing side as South Korea were comprehensively beaten by the Ivory Coast. The African nation netted four goals, with all coming from either current or former Ligue 1 McDonald's players. Former Nice forward Evann Guessand, now at Crystal Palace, opened the scoring and Simon Adingra, on loan at Monaco from Sunderland, then doubled the scoring just before half-time. Strasbourg's Martial Godo then made it three before former Monégasque Wilfried Singo then rounded out the scoring in second-half injury time.
There were plenty of Ligue 1 McDonald's players in action in Senegal's win over Peru, too. Mory Diaw (Le Havre), Moussa Niakhaté (Lyon), Krépin Diatta (Monaco), Lamine Camara (Monaco), and Ibrahim Mbaye (PSG) all started for Senegal, who paraded the AFCON trophy in Paris on the occasion. None of the Ligue 1 McDonald's contingent scored, but Mbaye did register an assist in the 2-0 win, with Nicolas Jackson and Ismaila Sarr on the scoresheet.
Thomas Meunier and Nathan Ngoy were both in action for Belgium against the United States in a seven-goal thriller at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Meunier got an assist in the game as they overcame the US, one of the host nations for next summer's FIFA World Cup. Mark McKenzie of Toulouse was in action, as were OL's Tanner Tessmann and Monaco's Folarin Balogun.
From a seven-goal thriller in the US to another one in Genoa, where Algeria took on Guatemala in a one-sided friendly. Marseille's Amine Gouiri started off the scoring in what would turn into a rout. The OM forward would net another before the game was out, with former Ligue 1 McDonald's players Riyad Mahrez and Houssem Aouar also on target in a confidence-boosting win.
On an entertaining weekend of international football, there were a further seven goals between Switzerland and Germany, with the latter prevailing thanks to a late winner from Liverpool's Florian Wirtz. Former Nicois Dan Ndoye was on the scoresheet, as was Rennes' Breel Embolo, whilst ASM's Denis Zakaria was also in action.
Teammates turned adversaries as Achraf Hakimi's Morocco and Willian Pacho's Ecuador faced off. In a match that also included Strasbourg duo Samie El Mourabet and Gessime Yassine, Hakimi registered a late assist for former Lens midfielder Neil El Aynaoui, as they salvaged a late draw against the South American nation.
Joquín Panichelli missed out after sustaining a severe injury, whilst neither Valentin Barco nor Geronimo Rulli got on the pitch as Argentina edged past Mauritania. However, for the latter, there was a debut for Angers' Jordan Lefort, who, at the age of 32 and making his first appearance at international level, scored his first goal for the African nation. A memorable night for the Angers defender, even in defeat.
