A first for French football: Toulouse FC stages the “Most Inclusive Match”, highlighting Ligue 1’s growing efforts to make stadiums accessible to all.

As part of Matchday 27 of Ligue 1 McDonald’s, Toulouse FC’s clash with FC Lorient on March 21 will serve as a milestone moment for accessibility in French football, with the organisation of the country’s first-ever “Most Inclusive Match”. Delivered in collaboration with the LFP, World Football Summit and Integrated Dreams, the initiative aims to improve the matchday experience for supporters with disabilities while raising awareness across the wider public.

The event builds on the LFP’s #1TEAM programme, which places accessibility at the heart of its strategy. Following previous editions in Spain with Real Betis, Atlético de Madrid and Real Sociedad, Toulouse becomes the first French club to host the initiative, implementing a range of concrete measures including accessible transport, audio-description services, sensory-friendly spaces and dedicated staff to assist supporters throughout their stadium journey.

Beyond matchday, the club has rolled out a broader programme of actions, including a job dating event focused on employment for people with disabilities, a roundtable on workplace inclusion and educational initiatives in partnership with Toulouse Business School. On the day itself, supporters will be able to engage with activities such as cécifoot and wheelchair rugby, while players will wear special shirts featuring pictograms representing different types of disabilities instead of their names.

“Hosting the Most Inclusive Match at the Stadium is a source of great pride for Toulouse FC,” said Cindy Johnson-Tufi, President of the TFC Foundation. “For several years, the club has worked to make the stadium a place open to everyone, where every supporter can fully enjoy the football experience.”

The symbolic dimension of the event will also be reflected on the pitch, with players walking out alongside children with and without disabilities, while actress Mayane and Paralympic champion Lucas Mazur will take part in the ceremonial kick-off.

“Football is the most popular sport in the world because, in theory, everyone can play it and enjoy it,” added Marian Otamendi, co-founder and General Director of the World Football Summit. “Yet millions of people with disabilities still cannot access live matches. This Saturday marks an important step in breaking down those barriers.”

The initiative forms part of a wider structural effort led by the LFP to improve accessibility across French professional football, including the introduction of disability officers within clubs and ongoing evaluation of stadium infrastructure and fan experience.

“With the ‘Most Inclusive Match’, the LFP is proud to support an initiative that is being brought to life through concrete measures,” said Jérôme Belaygue, LFP Communication and CSR Director. “This event will leave a lasting legacy for French professional football.”
