Wahi celebrates his long-range goal for Nice against Angers

The pitch at Raymond-Kopa has inspired the most audacious attempts this season. After Lilian Raolisa (Angers) scored against Toulouse FC at the start of February, it was Elye Wahi's (Nice) turn to score a sumptuous goal in Angers.

On Sunday, the Nice striker secured Nice's victory (0-2) by scoring a lobbed shot from long distance in added time, a shot measured at 36.52 metres by Opta.

 Second place for Wahi

It is the second-longest range finish in the 2025/26 Ligue 1 McDonald's season... after Raolisoa. Wahi has become the second Nicois player to figure inside the top 10, after Sofiane Diop (26.84m, 6th).

This season, in the long-distance-goalscorer rankings, there are only four to have scored from more than 30 metres out:

The top 5

  1. Raolisoa (Angers), 37.28m
  2. Wahi (Nice), 36.52m
  3. Correia (Lille), 31.75m
  4. Moreira (Strasbourg), 31.21m
  5. Hojbjerg (Marseille), 29.35m

A long way off Khazri's 68.3 metres

In the historic ranking in Ligue 1 McDonald's, all of this season's top-ranked players are a way off the three who have scored from more than 60 metres out. Wahbi Khazri from 68.3 metres with Saint-Étienne in 2013 and before him, former Nice player David Hellebuyck (66.2m) in 2008 and Saber Khalifa (Evian, 64.3m), also in 2013. Currently at Monaco, Lamine Camara is in 4th place in the ranking with his goal from 58.4m for Metz... against Monaco in 2023.
