An Issa Soumaré double handed Le Havre AC the win over Toulouse FC. That was despite Didier Digard's side going down to 10 men inside the opening minute of Sunday's encounter.
The hosts were immediately put on the back foot. Emersonn, getting out of a tight spot on the wing, was caught by the studs of Arouna Sanganté just above the ankle and was given his marching orders within the first 60 seconds of the encounter (1').
It was then up to Toulouse to punish Le Havre, and they almost did that through Yann Gboho, who was well positioned to latch onto a pullback and shoot first time, only for Mory Diaw to pull off a spectacular save with his feet (10').
But Le Havre continued to pose a threat and while they had little possession, what they did have they used to good effect. Sofiane Boufal was the conductor of all of HAC's best moments in attack. He tried a spectacular lob on Guillaume Restes from the halfway line, having nutmegged his opponent, but his shot landed on the roof of the net (23').

He set up a big chance moments later, as his pass found Simon Ebonog, whose deflected shot forced a good save from Restes, down low to his right (27'). There were imprecisions in Le TéFéCé's build-up, but their numerical advantage nonetheless gave them spaces to exploit and Aaron Donnum almost profited. The Norway international saw his shot with the outside of his boot tipped over by Diaw (37').
One man down, Le Havre would nonetheless go one up, thanks to Soumaré, who profited from a miscued pass from Rasmus Nicolaisen to steal the ball, close in on goal and put the ball through the legs of Restes (43'). That advantage would not hold until half-time, however, with Djibril Sidibé equalising on the swivel from close range (45+3').
It was a setback, but Le Havre had the resilience to recover from it. It was another opportune turnover from the home side that completely opened up the game, and it was once again Soumaré that was on the receiving end of a ball through, this time at least from one of his own players. He controlled well and then finished with his right foot from 12 yards out (53').
In the lead, Le Havre would have to hold on to secure the all-important three points. And they would be grateful for replacement goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi's intervention in injury time. Mark McKenzie's initial header was deflected by Julián Vignolo at close range, but Mpasi was equal to it (90+3'), as Digard's side held on for all three points, against the odds, having played with a numerical advantage for over 90 minutes at the Stade Océane.
