Olympique de Marseille have officially confirmed that Roberto De Zerbi has left his position as first-team head coach by mutual agreement, ending an 18-month tenure that began in July 2024.
The decision follows a high-level meeting involving owner Frank McCourt, president Pablo Longoria, the club’s sporting leadership and De Zerbi himself. In a statement, OM described the outcome as a “collective” and “difficult” choice, taken after careful reflection and deemed necessary in view of the sporting demands at this stage of the campaign.
De Zerbi departs having guided Marseille to a second-place finish in Ligue 1 during the 2024/25 season, securing UEFA Champions League qualification and restoring competitive stability at the club. His high-intensity, possession-based philosophy brought a clear identity to OM, though recent results had placed increasing pressure on his position.
The club thanked the Italian for his commitment, professionalism and dedication throughout his time in charge, and wished him success in the next chapter of his career.
