In a statement released on Monday, Rennes announced that Beye and his assistants were no longer responsible for the first team, following a difficult run of results that saw the club lose four consecutive matches over the past month.
Beye’s contract was due to expire in June, with Rennes having included a clause that would have extended his tenure had the club qualified for European competition next season. However, with results deteriorating, the club have opted to act before the end of the campaign.
“Stade Rennais F.C. have initiated a procedure against its head coach, M. Habib Beye, and his assistants, M. Olivier Saragaglia, M. Sébastien Bichard and M. Yann Cavezza,” the club said in an official communiqué.
While discussions continue regarding the terms of Beye’s exit, Rennes confirmed that first-team training sessions will be overseen on an interim basis by Sébastien Tambouret, Pierre-Alexandre Lelièvre and Maxime Le Marchand.
The former Red Star FC manager spent two seasons with the Breton club and was at the helm for 38 games, winning 18 in all competitions.
