En Avant Guingamp moved to within touching distance of the Ligue 2 top five after a commanding 3–0 away win over AS Nancy Lorraine on Monday night, while leaders ESTAC Troyes continued their impressive run by winning the Champagne derby against Stade de Reims.
After a tight opening hour in Lorraine, Guingamp broke the deadlock through Sohaib Naïr on 64 minutes, before Louis Mafouta doubled the advantage late on. Mafouta’s strike — his 10th of the season — sees him move clear at the top of the Ligue 2 scoring charts.
Substitute Amadou Samoura added a third soon after to cap a dominant second-half display from the Bretons. The evening was slightly marred for the visitors when Jérémie Matunoma was sent off just seconds after coming on, dismissed for a reckless challenge in the closing stages.
The result leaves Guingamp just three points off the top five, firmly back in the promotion conversation. Nancy, meanwhile, remain dangerously close to the relegation play-off places, with pressure mounting as the season reaches its halfway point.
At the top of the table, Troyes strengthened their grip on first place with a 2–1 derby win over Reims at the Stade de l’Aube. Goals from Mathys Detourbet and Merwan Ifnaoui put the hosts in control, even after being reduced to ten men following a first-half red card.
Reims pulled one back deep into stoppage time through Keito Nakamura, but it was too little, too late. Troyes now boast a six-point lead at the summit, underlining their status as the team to beat.
Behind them, Red Star FC reclaimed second place with an emphatic 3–0 victory away to Grenoble Foot 38. Goals from Kevin Cabral, Guillaume Trani, and a late penalty by Hacene Benali sealed a comfortable evening in the Alps.
AS Saint-Étienne complete the podium after edging past Clermont, while Dunkerque sit fourth following their weekend success.
