Ligue 1 McDonald's returns after the international break with some clashes at the top of the table which could have a big bearing for the rest of the season as PSG host a plucky Strasbourg side, and OGC Nice face off against Lyon. Meanwhile, Roberto De Zerbi's Marseille will be looking to pick up a fifth straight win in Ligue 1.
Friday evening will kick off the action in style as Paris Saint-Germain host Racing Club de Strasbourg at the Parc des Princes to open up the weekend of Ligue 1 McDonald's action. A clash of possession-based football, with the two sides who have played the ball the most on the deck all season. Not only that, Liam Rosenior's men only sit one point behind their hosts on Friday evening after securing a 5-0 win over Angers before the international break.
Strasbourg won the last Ligue 1 McDonald's meeting between the teams, coming out on top 2-1 at Stade de la Meinau last season. Félix Lemaréchal scored the lone goal for le Racing in the 48th minute. They also were the beneficiaries of an own goal by PSG's Lucas Hernández. Bradley Barcola scored PSG's only goal in the 46th minute. Can Rosenior's men trouble the Champions on their own patch this time out?
Saturday will kick off as Olympique Lyonnais will be hoping to get back on track after slumping to a 2-1 win against Toulouse just before the international break. Les Gones go into the match at the Allianz Riviera sat level with 15 points alongside Strasbourg and Marseille, hoping to potentially profit off any slip-up from PSG against Les Alsatiens after Friday night's action. Nice will be hoping to build off their 2-2 draw in the Côte d'Azur derby, currently sitting 12th with eight points after seven matches.
Roberto De Zerbi's Olympique de Marseille will be hoping to make it five straight victories in all competitions when they face Le Havre on Saturday evening at the Stade Vélodrome. ‘We can extend our winning streak in the league and stay at the top of the table, considering that PSG and Strasbourg are facing each other, as are Nice and Lyon," said Roberto De Zerbi during his pre-match press conference. "The idea is to start again as we finish, convinced that playing is the best way to get results. I'm going to continue rotating the squad out of necessity and because I can afford to. We have a large squad with some very good players."
After scoring on his return to the France national team for the first time since 2019, Florian Thauvin will be getting back to Ligue 1 McDonald's action with Racing Club de Lens who host Paris FC at Stade Boellaert on Sunday afternoon. Undefeated in their last two away games in Ligue 1 (victory in Brest, draw in Nice), Paris FC have the opportunity to remain unbeaten in three consecutive away games in Ligue 1 McDonald's for the second time in their history. Meanwhile, Lens will be looking to win three consecutive home games domestically for the first time since December 2023.
