Stade Rennais' Breel Embolo scored again for Switzerland

With the September international break winding to a close, we review what the stars of Ligue 1 McDonald's were up to on Monday across matches in Europe, Africa and beyond.

Switzerland cruise behind Embolo

Fresh off arriving in Brittany after joining Stade Rennais from AS Monaco, Swiss striker Breel Embolo was one the scoresheet again on Monday. After scoring a brace against Kosovo on Friday, he was one of three goalscorers in a 3-0 win over Slovenia as the hosts continued their perfect start. His fellow former Monégasque, Denis Zakaria, was also involved, coming off the bench for his erstwhile teammate with 12 minutes to play.

Denmark ease past Greece

In Greece, a trio of Ligue 1 McDonald's players were involved in the visitors' 3-0 win. Mika Biereth (AS Monaco) and Pierre-Emile Højberg (Olympique de Marseille) were both in the eleven, while Højberg's new Marseille teammate, Matt O'Riley came off the bench. Lucas Høgbserg (Strasbourg) was an used substitutes as the Danes finished the break with four points.

Elsewhere in Europe, Sweden lost to Kosovo, with Strasbourg's Sebastian Nanasi coming off the bench in a 2-0 defeat. Czechia, with the Olympique Lyonnais duo of Pavel Sulc and Adam Karabec coming off the bench, played out a one-all friendly draw with Saudi Arabia.

Igamane strikes to seal world cup place for Morocco

After a fine start to life with LOSC Lille, it was more of the same for Hamza Igamane. After netting a brace against Lorient in Ligue 1 McDonald's, the forward struck just after the break in a 2-0 win over Zambia in a match in which no other French-based players were involved.

Elsewhere in Africa, Ghana edged Mali 1-0, with Mohammed Salisu (AS Monaco) and Gideon Mensah (AJ Auxerre) both starting for the Black Stars against a Mali side that included Kamory Doumbia (Brest) and Lassine Sinayoko (Auxerre), among others. A Guinea-Bissau team that included Mama Baldé (Brest) was also among the day's winners, beating Dijibouti 2-0.
