With less than a month to go until the Ligue 1 McDonald's season starts, most of the league's sides were in action this weekend -- catch up on all the results with our roundup.
One of two matches that saw Ligue 1 McDonald's teams face each other, Le Havre and Angers played out a scoreless draw in Deauville at the Stade Commandant Hébert. Le SCO had the better of the opportunities but were unable to get past Le Havre's goalkeepers, as summer signings Lionel Mpasi and Mory Diaw each played a half.
Auxerre edged Ligue 2 side Clermont thanks to three different goalscorers. Lassine Sinayoko, Ado Onaiwu and Ibrahim Osman all found the net as they won their second match on the trot.
Rayan Fofana and Martín Satriano both scored as Le Sang et Or turned in a comfortable win with Metz only scoring a consolation goal in second half stoppage time. Lens will now face Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers, while Les Grenats take on amateurs Thionville in midweek.
In a Breton derby, promoted Lorient battled to a draw against neighbors Guingamp, building off another one-all draw against Spanish side Osasuna.
In a consummate display against another promoted display, Les Gones picked up a win thanks to goals from Malick Fofana, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Georges Mikautadze and Afonso Moreira.
Mason Greenwood kept up his good form through Marseile's preseason -- both he and Amine Gouiri scored from the spot in a 2-0 win.
Lés Monégasques made it five clean sheets in a row to start preseason, handily beating the German side thanks to goals by Mika Biereth, Paris Brunner and Maghnes Akliouche.
The weekend's other Breton derby (and all-Ligue 1 matchup) saw Stade Rennais prevail thanks to André Gómez's late winner. Having made good on their dominance, Rennes will now face Real Sociedad at the weekend as they gear up for the Ligue 1 season with a much retooled team.
Surely with one eye on their Champions League tie against Benfica, Nice beat Feyenoord 2-1 and lost to St. Pauli 2-0 in a pair of friendlies. Also on the road were RC Strasbourg, who battled hard against Galatasaray despite being nearly a month behind the Turkish side in their preparations, while Toulouse lost heavily to Leipzig at the MS Technologie Arena.
