Paris Saint-Germain has signed its first recruit of the 2024/25 summer transfer window. After the departures of Keylor Navas and Alexandre Letellier, the capital club opened its mercato by recruiting a new goalkeeper. This Friday, Matvey Safonov signed up for the three-time reigning Ligue 1 champions until 2029. Having been captain of FK Krasnodar with 53 clean sheets in 175 matches, the 25-year-old goalkeeper completes the PSG goalkeeper group alongside Gianluigi Donnarumma and Arnau Tenas. For the record, he was born exactly the same day as his new Italian teammate, February 25, 1999.
Speaking to the club's website, Safonov expressed his excitement at joining the capital side, saying “I’m really happy to be joining Paris Saint-Germain, one of the world’s biggest clubs in terms of its history and what it has won. I can’t wait to meet my new teammates, defend my new colors and make the fans proud. Allez Paris!”
