Strasbourg jumped out to a one-goal advantage thanks to a lucky break at the cost of Lucas Hernández. On the ensuing corner, the ball was flicked to the back post by Mamadou Sarr. Hernández was caught off guard and tried to clear it but put the ball into Matvei Safonov’s net.
PSG looked to be facing a one-goal deficit heading into halftime, but in the added time period in the first half, Strasbourg struck to increase their lead to two goals.
Habib Diarra held off Kang-in Lee, who couldn't keep up, on the right, then passed to Félix Lemaréchal in the center. With one touch, the Strasbourg player sent the ball into the top corner with a right-footed, curled shot.
Coming out of the break, PSG responded, cutting the deficit back to one goal, thanks to a goal from Bradley Barcola. The PSG standout set off on a solo run and finished with a delicate touch that hit the mark and ended an 11-match goal drought.
Despite the goal from Barcola, PSG couldn't find the equalizer as Strasbourg held onto their lead for a 2-1 win and securing three valuable points in the tightly contested battle for the three available UEFA Champions League spots.
Following the loss to Strasbourg, Warren Zaïre-Emery spoke to DAZN to share his thoughts on the loss.
"Two defeats in Ligue 1, insignificant? I think we’ve done what was necessary throughout the season. That’s what made this team undefeated. It’s tough to do what we’ve done, we shouldn’t downplay it. Today, we didn’t play a bad match."
As for PSG their attention now turns to Arsenal, who they'll welcome to the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night. Luis Enrique and his team have a 1-0 aggregate lead and are 90 minutes away from reaching the Champions League final.
Despite the loss to Strasbourg, PSG made history by becoming the first team in Europe's top five leagues to start a league match with four players born in 2006 or later: Zaïre-Emery, Senny Mayulu, Axel Tape, and Ibrahim Mbaye.
