In a dramatic Matchday 28 multiplex, Le Havre and Strasbourg picked up vital wins, while Auxerre stunned Stade Rennais with a late goal. Here's our roundup of the evening's three matches in Ligue 1 McDonald's.
In a match with massive implications for the relegation battle, Le Havre traveled to bottom side Montpellier and picked up their third win in five matches, lifting them out of the bottom three and leaving the hosts 11 points adrift of the playoff places. Yassine Ketcha opened the scoring, slotting the ball in at the near post after Benjamin Lecomte had initially saved Josue Casimir's attempt on the counter. Montpellier tried to get a foothold in the match, but were made to pay again just after the half hour, as sloppy play at the back allowed Abdoulaye Touré to fashion a shot from range. Despite La Paillade attempting to draw the match level, Mathieu Gorgelin (six saves) impressed in the Norman side's goal, keeping a vital clean sheet.
There was also an early goal for the visitors in Reims as defender Ismaël Doukouré scored his first goal of the season for in-form RC Strasbourg, netting from Sebastian Nanasi's corner in the fourth minute. Reims grew into the match and most of the match was fairly even, although Emanuel Emegha would hit the post from Dilane Bakwa's low cross in the second half. A contentious end to the match saw Diego Moreira Jr. and Mory Gbane both sent off, but Liam Rosenior will be more pleased with the result, as Racing now sit fourth ahead of their clash with OGC Nice next weekend.

With two of the day's three matches hinging on early goals, it was almost inevitable that Stade Rennais and AJ Auxerre's clash at the Roazhon park would be the opposite. And so it would prove as veteran Auxerre defender Jubal netted for the sixth time the season to make it three away wins from three in the afternoon's matches, helping his team to their third win in four matches.
