In the first half, OL recorded six total shots whole the visitors countered with four, but neither side could break the scoreless deadlock heading into halftime. The tables turned in the final 45 minutes as Toulouse recorded nine total shots while the home side recorded five.
Despite Les Violets' attack coming alive in the second half, they couldn't break the scoreless deadlock and neither did Lyon. OL had newcomer Thiago Almada on the bench, but the Argentine didn't make an appearance, so his debut will have to wait.
After the draw, Georges Mikautadze spoke to DAZN to share his thoughts on the team's performance. Les Gones could not secure a bounce-back win following their midweek elimination from the Coupe de France by fifth-tier FC Bourgoin-Jallieu.
"We fought hard and showed a different side of ourselves compared to Wednesday. We just lacked that final touch to score a goal. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get it done. We’ll work hard to bounce back."
The result isn't ideal for OL as they missed the chance to move ahead of OGC Nice into fifth place in the Ligue 1 McDonald's table after failing to secure a win over Toulouse. Lyon will need to turn the page on these past two results and prepare for their Matchday 7 UEFA Europa League contest against Fenerbahçe SK on Thursday
Carles MartÃnez Novell and his team also missed a chance to move closer to a European competition spot. A win would have brought Toulouse within two points of Lyon in sixth place in the Ligue 1 McDonald's table and the UEFA Europa Conference League spot.
Alexandre Lacazette wasn't part of the squad for this contest against Toulouse and without their veteran goal scorer, OL have struggled. OL have won just one of their last eight matches in Ligue 1 McDonald’s without Lacazette on the pitch, with three draws and four defeats, scoring only three goals during that stretch.
