Recap: Nakamura, Dembélé score as PSG-Reims Draw

Paris Saint-Germain and Stade de Reims played a tightly contested 1-1 draw on Saturday night at the Stade Auguste-Delaune II. The result also snapped the capital club's five-match win streak to start the 2024-25 season across all competitions.

Reims recorded four total shots in the first half and opened the scoring to take a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute thanks to a goal from Keito Nakamura. The goal against the Parisians marked the 24-year-old scoring for the second straight contest.

The home side kept PSG scoreless for the first 45 minutes, taking a 1-0 advantage into the dressing room. In the second half, the reigning Ligue 1 champions recorded four total shots and would eventually level the scoring.

Ousmane Dembélé found the back of the net after connecting with a cross from midfielder João Neves. The ball reached the far post, and although Dembélé got a foot on it, the shot wasn’t potent. However, Yehvann Diouf couldn't keep it out for the game-tying goal in the 68th minute.

After the draw, manager Luis Enrique spoke to PSG TV and reacted to how he saw the match play out between the two sides.

"We dominated the beginning of the match and had Reims pinned in their half. However, they scored on their first counter-attack, which was a bit lucky for them. That made them more determined to defend, and while we created chances to equalize, we just couldn’t find the back of the net. We did manage to score in the second half, and I believe we deserved at least a draw. With the number of chances we had, we could have even won, but that’s football for you."

"We could have also lost it with their last attack. I’m really happy with the team’s attitude and mentality. It was clear today that we needed players with fresher legs, especially since we’ll be playing every three days and need to recover. The match didn’t end the way we wanted, but winning here is tough, and we need to keep pushing forward."

PSG remain unbeaten through six games across all competitions with Reims being the first club not to lose to Enrique and his team. The Parisians will look to start another winning streak when they host Stade Rennais on Friday at the Parc des Princes.

Reims will look to extend their three-game unbeaten streak when they travel to face Angers SCO next Sunday at Stade Raymond Kopa.
