Preview: LOSC Lille Attempt to Punch League Phase Ticket

LOSC Lille have one foot in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League  as they head into the second leg against SK Slavia Prague holding a 2-0 aggregate lead ahead of Wednesday's clash at Fortuna Arena.

Jonathan David and Edon Zhegrova played a significant role in the LOSC's 2-0 win as they handled business in France before the scene shifts to the Czech Republic.

After securing a two-goal advantage in the first leg last week, Les Dogues kept their winning ways in Ligue 1 as they defeated Angers SCO 2-0 on Matchday 2. Thomas Meunier and Mohamed Bayo found the back of the net as Lille continued their winning ways.

Bruno Génésio and his team have started the 2024-25 season hot, with four wins out of five contests. Lille advanced past Fenerbahçe SK in the third qualifying round of the Champions League and then secured a first leg win over Slavia Prague.

Their impressive form also translated to the league as they defeated Stade de Reims and Angers in the first two matchdays of the campaign. While the attack will garner the headlines, LOSC's defense has been outstanding, considering they have only conceded two goals in five matches in all competitions.

A favorable result from Lille against Slavia Prague will mean France's top flight has four teams in the Champions League competition. Despite having a 2-0 aggregate lead, advancing will be challenging.

Before losing to Lille last week, Slavia Prague had won six straight matches across all competitions, so Jindřich Trpišovský and his team will attempt to use the home crowd to return to their winning ways.

Wednesday's match will be thrilling as both teams know what's at stake over these final 90 minutes of the matchup.
