Ghanian winger Augustine Boakye becomes ASSE's third summer signing

Les Verts continue to make moves in the transfer window. After completing the signings of Younis Abdelhamid, Ben Old, and Georgia Euro 2024 star Zuriko Davitashvili, Saint-Étienne complete a move for Ghanian winger Augustine Boakye. He will join fellow compatriotes Mohamed Salisu (AS Monaco) as well as Gideon Mensah (Auxerre) as Ghanian players to have represented a team in Ligue 1. 

Boakye joins from Austria Bundesliga side Wolfsburger AC, where he turned heads in the 2023-2024 season. In 26 appearances, scored 10 goals and registered seven assists. He is known for being an adaptable attacker, who is comfortable with the ball at his feet and likes to exploited spaces out wide.



"To join AS Saint-Étienne and discover the French Ligue 1 is a great source of pride," said the winger just after signing with Les Stéphenois. "I've always followed Ligue 1, and ASSE is an iconic club. I was able to talk to my friend Lucas Gourna, who spoke very highly of the club! I can't wait to discover this great club from the inside and meet its many supporters!"

Boakye has today signed a deal until 2028 with ASSE, with an option to extend a further yea`r.
