Alexandre Lacazette celebrates a goal with his French teammates

France ran out convincing winners in their second friendly ahead of the Olympics, beating the Dominican Republic, 7-0, in Toulon at the Stade Félix-Mayol.

In the second of their three friendlies ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, Thierry Henry and his side were in action against the Dominican Republic. After a 4-1 win against Paraguay thanks to a double from Jean-Philippe Mateta, France were without the Crystal Palace striker for this encounter, but captain Alexandre Lacazette was well-prepared with a double.

France were well in charge in the match's early going, and only some fine work by the Dominicans' goalkeeper kept the match level in the opening quarter of an hour. Former AS Monaco forward Enzo Millot opened the scoring after being released  with a fine ball from Montpellier HSC midfielder Joris Chotard before Lacazette struck the hosts' next two goals. After meeting a low cross from Stade Rennais' Adrien Truffert at the back post, Lacazette struck again after the break, brilliantly sweeping home a deflected ball.

From there, the floodgates opened for France. Newly-signed Bayern Munich player Michael Olise had his own double between the 51st and 55th minutes, before another pair of Ligue 1 players -- AS Monaco's Maghnes Akloiouche and Lacazette's Olympique Lyonnais teammate, Rayan Cherki, sealed the result. France will return to action on Wednesday, again in Toulon, as they take on Japan.
