An itinerant career and success in vienna

OGC Nice announced Thursday evening that it had reached an agreement with Rapid Vienna for the transfer of 23-year-old winger Isak Jansson. The Kinna native played 33 matches in 2024/25, scoring 9 goals and providing 6 assists (in all competitions), notably contributing to Rapid Vienna's fine European run, which ended in the Conference League quarter-finals against Djugarden.

Prior to his time in the Austrian capital, he had played in Sweden for a handful of sides before making the switch to Cartagena, then playing in the second division in Spain. After an uneven half-season since moving to Rapid last winter, last season he proved to be a revelation, helping the team return to the European places.

Jansson marks the fourth signing made by Nice this summer window, joining defender Juma Bah, goalkeeper Yehvann Diouf and midfielder Gabin Bernardeau. Speaking at his introductory press conference, he underscored the importance of the Champions League, saying, "I'm very happy and very proud to be signing for OGC Nice. After my discussions with the directors and the coach, I'm convinced that I'm making the right decision. I'm aware that the club has big ambitions, both in Ligue 1 and in Europe. It's up to me to do everything I can to help the team grow and make the fans proud."

Head of recruitment Florian Maurice also spoke, praising Jansson's potential and versatility, saying, "We closely monitored his performances last season. We're convinced that he can add real value to our squad. Isak is a young player with potential, but he also has experience. He shows commitment on the pitch. He's capable of playing in all the attacking positions, with a preference for the left-winger position, on his weaker side. Physically, he's powerful and capable of putting in a lot of effort, as well as being adept in the penalty area."
