A sun-kissed Stade Marcel Roustan was the stage as Les Bleuets ran out dominant winners against Saudi Arabia at the Tournoi Maurice Revello final in Salon-de-Provence on Sunday afternoon. In France's 47th appearance at the prestigious youth tournament, Les Bleuets sealed a first tournament win since 2022, adding a 14th title for the hosts in the South of France.
Bernard Diomède’s men came out of the blocks firing, and it took just two minutes for Dehmaine Tabibou to strike the opener (1'). The FC Nantes forward, already on the scoresheet in the semi-final win over Mexico, capitalised on a high recovery to unleash a fierce strike into the bottom corner from outside the box.
The dominant French start was rewarded again just before half-time, when Steve Ngoura stepped up to convert from the penalty spot (44’) for his fourth goal of the tournament, giving the Bleuets a commanding cushion at the interval. It would be Steve Ngoura to get on the scoresheet once again to score his fifth goal in the tournament (57'), and effectively seal France's title and jubilant celebrations in the South of France. Mohammed Abdulrahman (90+2') would head Saudi a consolation goal, but it was the French that celebrated shortly after the final whistle called the end of the game.
Earlier in the day, Denmark claimed third place with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Mexico in the third-place play-off, also held in Salon-de-Provence.
Alexander Lyng opened the scoring in the 40th minute following a defensive error from Angel Chavez, calmly slotting past Mexican goalkeeper Emmanuel Ochoa. But the response from Eduardo Arce’s side was swift — just four minutes later, Diego Sanchez equalised from close range after a chaotic sequence in the box.
In a second half lacking tempo, it was an own goal that eventually separated the two teams. With seven minutes left, a cross from Denmark's Pontus Texel was turned into his own net by Mexican defender Bernardo Parra (83'), handing the Scandinavians the win.
Despite Mexico’s pressure, Denmark held on to clinch third place, while the Mexicans were left to settle for fourth after a promising tournament.
