As the international break winds to a close, we catch up on the latest from around European and Asian World Cup qualifying, recapping what Ligue 1's players got up to around the globe. 

UEFA: Another clean sheet for Petrovic

Serbia, with RC Strasbourg's Djordje Petrovic in goal, kept a second straight clean sheet, beating Andorra 3-0. Finland, featuring Stade Rennais midfielder Glen Kamara (who spent the second hald of the season on loan in Saudi Arabia got a vital 2-1 over Poland, with OGC Nice's Marcin Bulka an unused substitute for the visitors. Finally, Stade de Reims' Tedy Teuma and Malta were handed a heavy loss by the Netherlands, losing 8-0 in Groningen. 

AFC: Japan cruise

In Asian qualifying, the Stade de Reims pair of Hiroki Sekine and Keito Nakamura were both in the squad for Japan, but only the latter featured, coming off the bench in a 6-0 home win over Indonesia. South Korea also picked up a comfortable win, with Paris Saint-Germain's Lee Kang-In playing 90 minutes and scoring the second goal for his country in a 4-0 defeat of Kuwait. In Jordan, Rennes' Musa Al-Tamaari came off the bench but it wasn't enough to prevent his side falling to a 1-0 defeat away to Iraq. Finally, Lens' Mathew Ryan was in goal for Australia as they notched a 2-1 win away to Saudi Arabia.

FRIENDLIES: Diarra, Senegal stun England

The biggest headline came from the City Ground in Nottingham, though, as England were beaten 3-1 in a friendly by Senegal. For the visitors, Lamine Camara, Krépin Diatta (both AS Monaco) and Habib Diarra (RC Strasbourg) were in the starting lineup, with Diarra netting his country's third just past the hour mark. Elsewhere in Europe, Monaco's Mika Biereth opened his international account with a goal in a 5-0 rout by Denmark of Lithuania, while and Algeria side featuring a half dozen Ligue 1 players was edged by the hosts, 4-3, in Sweden. 

In the United States, Toulouse defender Mark McKenzie and his team were humbled by a visiting Swiss side that saw another Monégasque, Breel Embolo, find the net in a 4-0 win, while hosts Canada (Dereck Cornelius, Ismaël Koné) were edged on penalties by a Côte d'Ivoire team that featured Wilfried Singo and Evann Guessand.
