Désiré Doué celebrates Achraf Hakimi's opener.

On a historic night for Ligue 1 McDonald's, Paris Saint-Germain won the Champions League title for the first time in their history, defeating Inter Milan 3-0, with Désiré Doué leading the way with an impressive double.

Doué repays Enrique's confidence

After a nervy start as both teams approached the match's first minutes with trepidation, Achraf Hakimi opened the scoring against former side as Désiré Doué took a pass from Joao Neves and cleanly squared the ball across goal for the Morocco international to score. PSG continued to pin back their opponents and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia fired over (17'). While the Georgia international was unable to find the net, a second wasn't long in coming for the capital side, as Doué went from provider to scorer on the counter, lashing home Ousmane Dembélé's cross to make it 2-0 with 20 minutes on the clock.

Inter responded with a corner, but Francesco Acerbi's header ballooned over the bar. From there, while PSg would force another corner shortly afterwards, the Italian side grew into the game, and former EA Guingamp striker Marcus Thuram flashed a header just past the far post at a corner. However, despite Inter showing more, the final chances of the half fell to PSG, and even if they couldn't convert, they still happily headed into the break with a deserved 2-0 lead.

Doué doubles up

The second half started as slowly as the first, with the first chance not coming until, and it once again fell to PSG, attacking the end in front of their fans, as Kvara fired wide from inside the area. Just past the hour, Hakimi and Doué linked up again, but the right back slotted his shot just pas the far post on a lightning-quick counterattack. It was only a postponement of the inevitable, though, as Doué, just days before his 20th birthday, would fire in a low shot following up a delicious through ball from Vitinha, making it 3-0 midway through the half.

While Doué was brought off without getting a chance to get his hat trick, his replacement, Bradley Barcola, would have a fine effort of his own in the 70th minute, firing a volley wide. Kvaratskhelia would then finally get his goal, springing the offside trap in brilliant fashion to make it 4-0 with just over fifteen minutes to play. Into the match's final moments, Barcola showed a sublime bit of skill, but only found the side netting, but it was academic as PSG had sealed their long-sought Champions League title in style, with teenager Senny Mayulu sweetly adding the fifth three minutes from time.
