Internationals: Senegal, Morocco, & Algeria with big wins

The final CAF qualifying fixtures for the FIFA World Cup 2026 took place on Tuesday evening before our focus switches back to domestic action this weekend.

As the international break winds down this week, the final CAF qualifying fixtures in March took place for the FIFA World Cup 2026 with plenty of action for our Ligue 1 McDonald's internationals.

Senegal 2-0 Togo

Olympique Lyonnais defender Moussa Niakhaté lined up along with AS Monaco pair Krépin Diatta and Lamine Camara as Senegal edged closer to top spot in CAF qualifying for the FIFA World Cup 2026 with a 2-0 win over Togo. There were also minutes for OGC Nice defender Antoine Mendy off the bench.

Morocco 2-0 Tanzania

The Atlas Lions edged closer to qualifying for the 2026 World Cup after goals from Nayef Aguerd and Brahim Diaz sealed a 2-0 win over Tanzania. Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi was rested for the fixture, whilst there were appearances off the bench for AS Monaco man Eliesse Ben Seghir and Le Havre's Oussama Targhalline. Marseille's Bilal Nadir did not feature. 

Algeria 5-1  Mozambique

The Fennec Foxes were triumphant winners over Mozambique in a vital qualifying clash which saw Mohamed Amoura score a hatrick, with veteran Lille defender Aïssa Mandi netting his seventh international goal for Algeria. Marseille striker Amine Gouiri started up front with OGC Nice midfielder Hicham Boudaoui getting a start in midfield and played the full 90 minutes. Lyon attacker Saïd Benrahma featured off the bench for the Fennecs. 

Cameroon 3-1 Libya

Cameroon completed a decisive victory over Libya in their qualification campaign to go within one point of Cape Verde at the top of the table. Stade Rennais defender Christopher Wooh took up his habitual position in the backline, as Toulouse striker Frank Magri made his entry in the second half.
