RC Lens' Hervé Koffi started between the pipes for Burkina Faso to secure a 2-1 win. After the two sides went into halftime leveled one-all, Burkina Faso found the back of the net in the second half to take the victory. The result for Burkina Faso proves ideal as they now trail first-place Egypt by two points for the automatic qualifying spot to the World Cup next year.
Angers' Yahia Fofana and AS Monaco's Wilfried Singo were in the starting 11 for Côte d'Ivoire. Off the bench, the Elephants counted on several players from France's top flight.
